You do not need a workshop full of expensive machinery to build beautiful projects from a PDF plan. A handful of reliable tools will carry you through the vast majority of builds.
The core kit
- Tape measure & square — accuracy starts here.
- Circular saw or handsaw — for breaking down boards to your cut list.
- Drill/driver — for pilot holes and driving screws.
- Clamps — the extra pair of hands you always need.
- Sander & sandpaper — for a finish that looks professional.
Nice-to-have upgrades
As you build more, a pocket-hole jig, a random-orbit sander and a few bar clamps make the work faster and cleaner. But do not let a lack of tools stop you from starting — most of our plans are designed to be built with basic equipment.
Remember: a sharp, simple tool used well beats an expensive one gathering dust.
